How to get a Mugshot Removed from the Internet

Stop it! Stop doing that! Stop clicking on your mugshot. I know, it’s embarrassing to have your mugshot showing up on the first page of Google when you search for your name. But the more you click on it, the higher it ranks on Google. The most common concerns my clients have are employment and dating. In some states, it may not be possible to remove your mugshot because of state statutes. In Georgia, for instance, the statute only allows for removal for qualifying dispositions, such as verdicts of not guilty or charges that were dismissed. But you’re not out of luck for most other charges. You still have other options, such as suppression, which is basically search engine optimizing (SEO) your name. As long as your page doesn’t show up on the first 2 to 3 pages of a Google search for any related keyword associated with your name, such “Name Mugshot,” then your chances of getting hired by an employer or finding that special someone, drastically increase. Sometimes, if suppression is aggressive enough, it can be removed from all the results pages (i.e., all 15 pages of results).
